Dead Meat - Black Dawn II by MarcWasHere Dead Meat - Black Dawn II by MarcWasHere
Figure I'd put up the rough boards and final production stills for last year's major project, Deat Meat. Its all painted in Photoshop, and 'animated' in Adobe AfterEffects.

"A routine reconnaissance patrol searching for survivors amongst the ruins of civilization soon finds that they are not the only ones out there searching for life..."

Please check out the 'animation' in the youtube link:

Soldiers, guns, zombies...oh my.

Please make more vids. Your military art is top notch, no one makes them look cooler than you.

I would suggest you make a video with the humans winning next. Give the military a chance to beat zombies (since they rarely do like in movies and in your video lol). Hoo rah!

I'm loving the following points:

i) Use of fairly modern military gear, no futuristic shite, no 1960s shite. This is your hallmark with military works, good research.

ii) Combat vehicles in use.

iii) Organized units. None of this postapocalyptic shit. I've never understood how the military is theoretically overwhelmed, it flies in the face of basic military discipline.

iv) Soldiers aren't fighting like retards.

Your art style and the shifting between sharp-and-clear and blurred to (perhaps, correct me if I'm wrong) symbolize those "flashes of experience" that stick in your mind versus something happening very quickly (literally "in a blur") is Maximum Asskick. Hopefully those critters can't claw through armour plate. "Back in the truck!" is probably a good defensive measure in the event of potentially being overwhelmed. Looks like they're trying to execute a break contact / fighting withdrawl in these panels.

Yeah, i myself never understood the logic of trained military personel with armor and air support going down. But i guess in terms of storyline, script writers need to thrust the audience into a sense of desperation since there is no 'Big Brother' to save the scared and aimless masses from the zombie horde.

But then, it stands against reason why a bunch of survivors with lesser training and a few shotguns can make it through the day eh? ;p

Anyway, glad u like the clip! Alot of work went into it! Gah...and for all of just 3+ minutes.

I think that they were trying to get back in the strykers but then noticed the other zombie horde BEHIND them.

Animations are insanely time-consuming. If you do more in this vein be sure to show it off, I'd love to see more. Excellent work here.

awesome ass flash animation.
I like how the narrator was actually a zombie. It's nice to hear their point of view as well.

Is this gonna become a series? or??

Very cool, it's interesting seeing the before and after, in some cases I can see how the "after" is simply a polished, detailed version of the original concept but some of them you really change around.

I think it makes sense that you scraped the slat armor, but I like the pose of that one soldier with his gun up and his arm back.

Very cool project, any more of it in the works? Or just that teaser trailer
